In the clip viewed more than 34 million times, Finley takes scissors to the string holding the black balloon filled with either blue or pink confetti, misunderstanding she's supposed to pop the balloon, not snip it.
"No Finley!" mom Candice Ross of Prince George County can be heard yelling, as Finley sweetly giggles and the balloon drifts up, up and away.
When cameras stopped rolling, Finley was crying — distraught because she thought the baby was in the balloon, her mom said.
The Ross' eventually held a re-do, in which they threw colored glitter from mom's hands.
"I had to literally throw something together really quick," Ross said.
The family is keeping the gender a secret.
